Jan Maarten de Vet
Jan Maarten de Vet - Director at Ecorys in Brussels has been leading on a wide range of assignments in the areas of maritime economics and sustainable development, impact assessment and competitiveness for EASME, DG MARE, DG R&I, DG EMPL, DG GROW and other EC bodies. He has been leading on the original DG MARE 'Blue growth' study (2010/2012) on Scenarios and Drivers for Sustainable Growth from the Oceans, Seas and Coasts. Several projects for DG MARE followed on, such as a study on Blue Growth in the North Sea Region and Maritime clusters in the Mediterranean. He has also been leading on a study to support the Impact assessment on Maritime and coastal tourism, and was one of the key authors on a study for Blue Biotechnology. More recently, Jan Maarten has acted as Project Director for the project ‘Towards an Initiative for the sustainable development of the blue economy in the western Mediterranean’. He has also completed a study on Lessons learnt in Ocean Energy. In more general terms, Jan Maarten has been leading on the development, elaboration and implementation of EU impact assessments and evaluations in a variety of domains, including employment, education, good governance and EU funding programmes. Earlier in his career, Jan Maarten has been leading on the preparation, implementation and evaluation of Structural Funds programmes, mostly in the New Member States. Jan Maarten acts as trainer and conference moderator in areas of his competence. Before joining Ecorys, he worked as Young Professional for the OECD in Paris. He is a geographer by training (University of Utrecht, University of California, Los Angeles).
