which maritime spatial plans exist?
Denmark does not currently have a spatial plan for the sea. However, a range of sectorial plans has been developed, and these plans will provide key input to the coming planning process.
It is expected that the Danish MSP will undergo public consultations as well as international ESPOO consultation by January 2021 together with SEA and the assessment of impacts.
MSP legislation
The Danish Parliament has adopted the Maritime Spatial Planning Act, which establishes the framework for spatial planning in the Danish marine areas.
The coming spatial plan will apply to the marine internal waters, the territorial sea and the EEZ.
