Baltic LINes

This guide, develop under the framework of the Baltic LINes project, presents a step-wise approach summarizing the considerations taken when assessing, deciding on and designating the suitable areas for offshore wind energy and grid development.

Baltic LINes

The shipping sector is one of the most prominent activities within any given maritime space so it is one the first sectors that is considered when drafting a maritime spatial plan.

Marine spatial planning (MSP) in Europe is in a paradigm shift as all (coastal) European countries now have established practices for the production of marine spatial plans.

COEXIST 

This tool allows a (semi-)quantitative conflict analysis. It uses spread sheet programs and is based on expert judgement rather than data.

BaltSeaPlan, BaltSPACE

The study uses Marxan, (a decision support tool for mostly used in conservation planning) to optimize algorithms to find the most cost-efficient site selection suitable for offshore wind farm installations in Germany, Sweden, Poland and Denmark.
