Wind Europe

Europe added 2.9 GW of offshore capacity during 2020. That’s 356 new offshore wind turbines connected to the grid, across nine wind farms. Europe now has a total installed offshore wind capacity of 25 GW.

Preliminary studies demonstrate the availability of significant renewable energy potential in Spanish waters.

Over the last decade, the accelerated transition towards cleaner means of producing energy has been clearly prioritised by the European Union through large-scale planned deployment of wind farms in the North Sea.

Energy policy

The 2050 target of the European Union to decarbonize the economy by 80–90% will undoubtedly see marine renewable energies playing a key role.

The IH-MSP Platform is the GIS platform which facilitates the implementation of maritime spatial planning in Spain. It focuses on the spatial potentials of offshore aquaculture and wind energy.

PHAROS4MPAs

This document, produced by the Pharos4MPAs project, aims to explore how Marine Protected Areas (MPA) could be affected by the offshore wind energy sector, and provides a set of practical recommendations to avoid or minimise its environmental impac

How will offshore wind help Europe go carbon-neutral?

Baltic LInes

To achieve renewable energy targets, some MSP authorities are zoning for Offshore Wind Farms in their Maritime Spatial Plans. An important factor for the energy production of a specific site is the so-called capacity density.

NorthSEE

The report provides an overview of the current status of offshore energy in the North Sea. It focusses on the current cooperation initiatives, the energy profiles and energy targets of the different countries, as well as upcoming industry trends.

The Interreg North-West Europe (NWE) Programme is one of the fifteen transnational cooperation programmes financed by the European Union. It is financed through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)1.

MASPNOSE

MASPNOSE acted as a facilitator and platform for parties to establish contacts for future cooperation and to resolve potential conflicts.
