Defining and extending the network of maritime protected areas

Defining and extending the network of maritime protected areas

Available Funding:
11 734 980 BGN or € 6 000 000.
Description:

The purpose of the CfP is to contribute to the completion of the "Natura 2000" network in Bulgaria's maritime areas. The CfP addresses the need to map and register conservation areas in the maritime space of Bulgaria. In the 2007-2013 only conservation areas on the land territory of Bulgaria were mapped. The habitats and species need to be mapped, so that their environmental status can be preserved. The mapping provides information for the purposes of the assessment of the compliance of investment intentions with goals and tasks of maritime preservation efforts. In addition the mapping will provide base data for the monitoring of biological diversity.

This call for proposals provides an opportunity for the upgrade of the achieved results under OP “Environment” 2007-2013 through the implementation of measures for the mapping and definition of the environmental status of habitats and species in the framework of Natura 2000 in the maritime spaces of Bulgaria. In addition the call for proposals will contribute to the update of the available information system for the protected areas.
