The Stakeholder Conference of SIMNORAT will take place in Guéthary on 19th December 2017. Organised by the French Hydrographic Service SHOM, and hosted by the municipality of Guéthary ( France) it aims tocommunicate the progress and outputs of the project partnership activities while providing an opportunity to exchange knowledge and experiences from France, Spain and Portugal. This meeting will address a multiplicity of issues (i/e. decision - making tools and maritime spatial management tools to manage coastal risks, submersion and coastal erosion, marine protected areas) and will pay special attention to the case of the Bay of Biscay waters shared by France and Spain. Outputs of the conference will input the SIMNORAT Steering Committee and Project Group meetings set on 20 and 21 of December.
SIMNORAT is a two years project about planning across borders in the French, Spanish and Portuguese waters of the Northern European Atlantic launched in January 2017. SIMNORAT is studying and building methodologies and tools for the implementation of the European Directive establishing a framework for Maritime Spatial Planning (MSP) in these waters. EU/DG Mare co-funded project SIMNORAT is then contributing to a consistent management of the marine spaces.
