The SIMAtlantic project has recently introduced two new tools.

  • A web portal providing centralised access to all the documents and tools produced by SIMAtlantic in relation to data use and sharing in MSP;
  • A geoportal bringing together MSP data and information for the European Atlantic region. This demonstrator gathers data and information in connection with the planning of maritime areas. In particular, it disseminates geospatial information related to the marine spatial plans of England, Spain, France, Ireland, Northern Ireland, and Portugal, as well as the "proof" data used to establish these plans (when available and interoperable with the tool).

Both tools, produced by France’s SHOM (Service Hydrographique et Océanographique de la Marine) under the project’s thematic area on 'data use and sharing', are available via the SIMAtlantic website.

The overall objectives of the initiative are to support the establishment and implementation of Maritime Spatial Plans in line with MSP Directive requirements in five European Atlantic countries: France, Ireland, Portugal, Spain, and the United Kingdom.
