The seventh World Ocean Summit will be held at the Hotel Okura in Tokyo, Japan, on 9-10 March 2020. As an event existing since 2012, it will bring together a global group of policymakers, businesses, civil society leaders, investors, scientists and entrepreneurs with the purpose of debating and developing new ideas on how to decouple the economic growth from ocean degradation.

The Stakeholders Conference is organised to offer the possibility to consult with a wide range of relevant actors on priority themes identified by the countries to feed the joint post 2020 Blue Economy agenda:
- Promote dialogue and exchange of experiences on common areas of work;
- Keep stock of the progress of the activities at regional level;
- Maintain a high participatory approach to ensure stakeholder involvement in pulling together capacities, mandates and resources.
This conference is a key step on the way to the 2020 UfM Ministerial Conference on Blue Economy, scheduled for the 2nd July in Malta.

The symposium will be hosted by the Coastal Environments Research Group, Universidad Pablo de Olavide de Sevilla, under the auspices of the Coastal Education and Research Foundation (CERF) and the Journal of Coastal Research (JCR). The proceedings of the conference, published as peer-reviewed papers in the Journal of Coastal Research, represent an invaluable resource for coastal scientists, engineers and managers.

The Conference MSP NATURE 2020, on the integration of nature conservation into Marine Spatial Planning (MSP), will take place in Berlin, Germany. MSP Nature 2020 serves as a platform upon which to present and discuss different aspects of MSP applying an Ecosystem-Based-Approach (EBA). Particular emphasis will be given to marine nature conservation. The Conference aims to bring together a wide range of stakeholders, including public administrations, research and academia. The European Maritime Day (EMD) Conference and Expo is the annual two-day event during which Europe’s maritime community meet to network, discuss and forge joint action on maritime affairs and sustainable blue economy.
EMD Conference and Expo is the place where ‘Ocean Leaders Meet’. It provides an interactive experience to catch up on the current state of play on a broad range of issues concerning the blue economy and the marine environment and discuss ways of moving forward. It features a large number of excellent speakers, multiple breakout sessions and project pitch sessions organised by stakeholders and European Commission services as well as hundreds of B2B meetings. EMD targets professionals from businesses, governments, public institutions, NGOs and academia.
EMD 2020 is organised jointly by the European Commission, the City of Cork and Our Ocean Wealth Summit. It will be celebrated on 14 and 15 May 2020 in Cork City Hall together with Our Ocean Wealth’ (OOW), Ireland’s flagship annual event for the marine sector and will be held back-to-back with the ‘SeaFest’, Ireland’s largest free family-friendly maritime celebration.

The 2020 United Nations Conference is focused on the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development. The overarching theme of the Conference is "Scaling up ocean action based on science and innovation for the implementation of Goal 14: stocktaking, partnerships and solutions".

This weeklong event gathers stakeholders from the sustainable energy sector, and includes conferences, a networking village, and an awards competition.
The Policy Conference will take place between the 23 and 25 June 2020 during EU Sustainable Energy Week. This is the biggest European conference dedicated to renewables and efficient energy use in Europe.
Sessions organised by the European Commission and energy stakeholders focus on sustainable energy issues, and debate new policy developments, best practices, and sustainable energy ideas.
The Policy Conference takes place in three buildings in Brussels’ Schuman district: the European Commission’s Charlemagne and Berlaymont buildings, and the Residence Palace nearby. Registration for the conference will be launched in April 2020.
Next to the conference, the Networking Village will bring the EUSEW Community together to forge alliances and exchange ideas.
Moreover, the EUSEW Awards will celebrate outstanding projects and ideas in energy efficiency and renewables. Finalists will be chosen from a shortlist of the year’s most successful projects for clean, secure and efficient energy.
The award categories are the following:
- ENGAGEMENT - Recognising activities with high social acceptance potential, that inspire and motivate citizens to change their energy usage habits;
- INNOVATION - Recognising outstanding EU-funded activities that show an original and innovative way to the sustainable energy transition;
- YOUTH - Recognising outstanding activities carried out by young people (below 30).
The Awards Ceremony will take place on 23 June 2020.

The International Marine Conservation Congress (IMCC) brings together conservation professionals and students with the purpose of developing new and powerful tools to further marine conservation science and policy.
The Call for Abstracts for contributed presentations (talks and posters) is now open. Deadline 24 February 2020.
During this event, Céline Jacob (Université du Québec) and Holly Niner (University of Plymouth) will hold a session on "Marine spatial planning for an environmentally sustainable and socially just blue economy". They will discuss the barriers and opportunities that MSP presents for the equitable and sustainable use of marine areas and marine conservation.

CoastGIS 2020 in Raseborg (on the South Coast of Finland), hosted by the Novia University of Applied Sciences, will be the 14th consecutive symposium for an international exchange of knowledge, ideas and experience on how spatial data and information technologies assist marine and coastal zone managers (and other stakeholders) to better understand and manage coastal space and resources.
