The European Commission will host the Fourth Forum of the Outermost Regions entitled "The Outermost Regions, European lands in the world: toward a renewed strategy" which will be held in Brussels on 30-31 March 2017. The Outermost Regions Forum is an important platform for dialogue which illustrates the specific partnership these 9 regions (Guadaloupe, French Guiana, Martinique, Mayotte, Reunion, Saint-Martin, the Azores, Madeira, and the Canary Islands) and their three Member States have with the European Commission and other EU institutions. This year, the Forum will point up the importance of the integration of the Outermost Regions in their neighbouring markets, as a key element for their socio-economic development as well as important issues such as digital and physical accessibility, blue growth and green/circular economy and the energy sector. This edition will be also a key platform for debate on the future perspectives in view of a communication that the Commission will adopt by the end of 2017, reviewing and renewing the European strategy for the Outermost Regions.
