The European Commission has published a report on the Blue Growth Strategy, taking stock of the results obtained in the last five years, and looking forward to the next five. The Blue Growth Strategy focuses on Blue Energy, Aquaculture, Coastal and Maritime Tourism, Blue biotechnology, and sea bed mineral resources. It promotes sea basin cooperation, as well as engaging with the international stakeholders. Enabling factors for Blue Growth are defined as marine data, maritime spatial planning, environmental protection (MSFD), skills development, maritime security, as well as research.
